On 21 November 2025, Dariia Riabtseva, a teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, conducted a practical class in the discipline ‘Professional English’ on the topic ‘Preparation for flight in difficult conditions’ for 4th-year higher education students, majoring in 272 ‘Aviation Transport.’
The teacher began by announcing the topic and goal, using a rebus that contained encrypted key concepts: ‘weather conditions,’ ‘risk,’ ‘route,’ and ‘flight safety.’ This technique immediately grabbed the students’ attention and created a positive mood for active work.
The motivational stage was organised in the form of a ‘brainstorming’ session, during which the students named possible complex flight factors (limited visibility, gusty winds, electromagnetic interference, and terrain obstacles) and suggested ways to overcome them. This allowed them to refresh their prior knowledge and emphasise the practical significance of the topic.
Basic concepts were reinforced with a linguistic mini-quest, in which the trainees deciphered professional terminology related to flight planning. The work was accompanied by a slide show with graphic route diagrams and examples of real situations where weather and technical factors affected the completion of the flight mission.
Particular attention was paid to:
To deepen the knowledge, the teacher used interactive methods:
‘Searching for information by QR code’ – students gained access to real examples of weather reports and flight restriction data; the ‘Smart Encryptor’ method – They need to restore the missing key stages of pre-flight preparation.
