On 20 November 2025, Svitlana Hrybanova, senior teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, with the participation of Vitalii Behma, the head of the Information and Technical Support Department of the Kremenchuk Flight College of KhNUIA, held a binary class in the discipline ‘Use of Information Technologies in Professional Activities and Information Security’ for first-level (bachelor's) higher education students, majoring in J6 ‘Aviation Transport’, the educational and professional program ‘Air Navigation.’ The class was held on the topic of ‘Social Engineering. Methods of Social Engineering.’
The lesson began with a refresher on the subject matter. The theoretical part covered classic methods of social engineering in detail, including phishing, spamming, pharming, spoofing, and so on.
The practical part included analysis of real cases and simulation of situations aimed at developing critical thinking and threat identification skills.
The students showed a high level of interest, actively participated in discussions, and independently proposed countermeasures.
Particular attention was paid to the connection between technical means of cyber protection and the human factor as the weakest link in security.
As a result of the class, the cadets successfully mastered the mechanisms of influence and countermeasures against basic social engineering attacks.
Thanks to the binary class, students had the opportunity to consider specific practical examples of the application of modern information technologies in various spheres of life.
As a result, the binary class was a fruitful and useful experience that allowed cadets to gain new knowledge and reconsider what they already knew from a new perspective, continue studying and researching the topic, increase the practical orientation of the educational process, and deepen their knowledge in this area through practical work and professional development. We would like to thank the participants for their active involvement.
