The staff of the Public Library at the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs keep improving their knowledge of a barrier-free environment.

Librarians got acquainted with the ‘Barrier-Free Handbook,’ from which they learned about modern principles of unbiased communication, rules for creating a friendly environment for everyone, and the importance of respectful language and an inclusive approach when working with users.

They also studied the Recommendations for the information presentation by public authorities in formats that ensure its accessibility. This will help the library make its information resources more convenient and understandable for all categories of visitors.

And most interestingly, the employees watched the educational series ‘Barrier-Free Literacy’ on the ‘Diia.Digital education’ portal. From the video lessons, they learned how to communicate without stereotypes, interact correctly with people with different needs, and create a space where everyone feels comfortable.

As a result of the training, librarians received certificates and new knowledge that will help develop the library space as an accessible, friendly, and barrier-free environment.
