On 25 November 2025, Alla Reuta, senior teacher at the Air Transport Department, who runs the discipline ‘Fuel and Lubricants,’ together with students from group AVdms -24-1b, held a scientific seminar on the topic ‘Alternative Fuel and Lubricants for Aviation Equipment in the MIA System’ for second-year bachelor students, the educational and professional program ‘Avionics.’

The purpose of the scientific seminar was to study modern scientific approaches to the use of alternative fuel and lubricants (F&L) in the aviation industry, analyse the possibilities of integrating alternative F&L into the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and develop critical thinking, independent research, and scientific and analytical skills.

The seminar was devoted to discussing issues that are relevant in connection with the global trend towards the transition of aviation to environmentally friendly fuels, increasing flight safety requirements, and the need to improve the efficiency of aviation equipment in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the preparation for the seminar, the students studied the problematic and relevant aspects, such as the classification of alternative aviation fuels: bioaviation fuel (BioJet, SAF – Sustainable Aviation Fuel); synthetic aviation fuels (FT fuels); hydrogen and hydrogen-electric systems; electric and hybrid power plants for aviation equipment; environmental and economic benefits of SAF implementation. The foreign experience of aviation units switching to alternative fuels was also discussed. The seminar was held in the format of a scientific discussion with presentations and reports by students.

Conducting scientific seminars contributes to the improvement of the students' professional competence in the study of the discipline “Fuel and Lubricants,” stimulates scientific research, and allows to form a holistic view of future trends in the use of alternative fuels and lubricants in aviation technology of the MIA system. The students demonstrated an appropriate level of preparation, the ability to work with scientific sources, analyse information, and form practical conclusions.
