On 3 December 2025, representatives of the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, with the facilitation of the International Relations and Interuniversity Work Group, participated in the lecture ‘Beyond the Fortress: Emotional Components of Group Resilience in the Context of the War in Ukraine,’ organized by leading experts from the Luxembourg University as part of the WOLS 2025 lecture series.

The lecture was given by:

Malgorzata ZAKHARA-SHYMANSKA – Professor of International Relations at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence;

Olena DANESCU – Research Associate at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), member of the research group on contemporary European history, accredited to supervise doctoral students at the Doctoral School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The issue of state resilience is traditionally considered from the perspective of resource provision and response protocols. The lecture focused on the emotional components of resilience aspects that determine a society's ability to use available resources in a crisis. Based on research reflecting the beliefs of Ukrainians fighting in the war and Poles who actively helped refugees in 2022, the authors emphasised the role of compassion, solidarity, a sense of community, and pride in shaping group resilience.

The participation of college representatives in such a scientific event is relevant in the context of the ongoing aggression against Ukraine. A deeper understanding of the emotional factors of resilience contributes to the increased effectiveness of teams, as the ability to support each other and cohesion are crucial.

Familiarity with modern international approaches allows the knowledge gained to be applied in professional activities and the educational process, strengthening the internal readiness of the team to act in a coordinated and confident manner in conditions of high responsibility.

Such events strengthen international ties and promote the integration of the educational practices of the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs into the European scientific and academic space, which is an important step in improving the quality of training for aviation specialists in Ukraine.
