On 1 December 2025, Svitlana STELMAKH, a specialist in International Relations and Interuniversity Work Group, took part in the Luxembourg University event “Cultural Heritage and Resilience in International Law”, which was held as part of the WOLS 2025 lecture series. The event was held under the aegis of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies and the European University Institute (EUI Florence).
The speakers at the conference were Valentyna VADI, Associate Professor of International Law at the School of Political Science, Law, and International Studies at the University of Padua (Italy) and Olena DANESCU, Research Associate at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), member of the research group on contemporary European history, accredited to supervise doctoral students at the Doctoral School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The conference addressed topical issues of the impact of cultural heritage on community resilience in the context of conflicts, environmental challenges, and cultural oppression. Cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, emerged not only as historical memory but as a dynamic resource that supports social cohesion, identity, and the ability of communities to adapt to critical conditions. The analytical part of the reports was based on international conventions in the field of world heritage, cultural diversity, intangible heritage, and the rights of indigenous peoples, as well as on mechanisms for protecting heritage in times of war and in the field of environmental sustainability.
Participation in the conference contributed to the deepening of professional competence and the expansion of knowledge in the field of international relations, inter-university communication, and contemporary international law. The approaches and analytical developments obtained are valuable for the further development of the college's international activities, strengthening its expert potential, and contributing to strengthening its professional reputation and increasing the effectiveness of the educational institution's international work.
