On 28 November 2025, a teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines conducted a demonstrative practical class in the discipline ‘Professional English’ for students of the Pdsr-24-1b group, majoring in 272 ‘Aviation Transport,’ the field of knowledge 27 ‘Transport, ’the educational and professional programme ‘Air Navigation.’ The topic of the class was ‘Flight simulation using radio communication.’

In the process of the lesson, the teacher used modern methods of updating the basic knowledge: simulation of real radio communication and situational tasks. Students performed exercises with the practice of using standard ICAO phraseology during the stages of takeoff, climb, en route flight, and approach. Particular attention was paid to the use of speech structures in non-standard situations during flight.

The class involved methods of explanation, active listening, role-playing, listening comprehension, and work in pairs and groups. Students simulated radio communication between the pilot and the air traffic controller, practised command formulations, clear diction, speech tempo, and pronunciation. There were also exercises on filling in the blanks and analysing mistakes in realistic flight scenarios. During the practical tasks, participants recreated a full flight cycle using radio communication, which allowed them to improve their oral speech, listening, and quick decision-making skills.
