The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is an international court that protects human rights in accordance with the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. It considers complaints from citizens and organisations against states that have signed the Convention.

On 7 November 2025, On 7 November 2025, students of the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs learned about the cases of Ihnatov v. Ukraine and Lukashenko v. Ukraine, which serve as examples of how the ECHR monitors human rights compliance in Ukraine. The applicants appealed to the court with claims of violations of their rights guaranteed by the Convention, in particular the right to a fair trial and protection from unlawful interference in private life.

The examination of such cases shows that international institutions can influence state practice and stimulate the reform of the national legal system for better protection of human rights.
