On 5 November 2025, Valentyna Syvolozhska, senior teacher at the Air Transport Department, with the participation of Valentyn Klepach, design engineer (airframe and engines) at the Design Department of AIR TAURUS LLC, conducted a binary class in the discipline ‘Aviation Materials Science and Strength of Materials’ on the topic ‘Corrosion of Metals and Their Alloys’ for students majoring in 272 ‘Aviation Transport’ of the educational and professional programme ‘Air Navigation’.

During the lecture, design engineer Valentyn Klepach used examples from his practical experience to emphasise the importance of studying this subject as a basis for understanding the properties of materials, methods of their manufacture, processing and proper operation of aviation equipment parts and components, as well as their protection against corrosion damage. Issues related to the nature of corrosion and its types, the main means of protection against corrosion, and the negative impact of corrosion processes on the functioning of aircraft were actively discussed.

The applicants’ questions were answered with well-founded, substantive answers regarding the negative impact of corrosion on flight safety and how to combat it, which requires regular costly maintenance, inspections, repairs and replacement of damaged equipment.
