On 30 October, Nina Popova, Head of the Public Library of the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, took part in the webinar ‘Research Commons – a new database on the Web of Science platform’.

During the event, participants learned about the new Research Commons database, which contains a collection of open-source journal publications and is located next to the selective collection, the Web of Science Core Collection.

The speakers illustrated the platform's capabilities, which allow users to: research materials from around the world, including countries in the Global South, as well as in the social sciences and humanities, more effectively; choose between depth and breadth of coverage depending on the objectives of their research; and establish connections between scientific concepts more quickly due to an expanded citation network.

The Research Commons database adds 21% more journal content to the existing Web of Science resources, opening up new opportunities for researchers and scholars.

Participation in such events helps librarians stay up to date with modern information resources that support the scientific activities of faculty and students.
