On 20 October 2024, Vira Siora, a senior teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, conducted a practical class in the discipline ‘Professional Ethics and Culture in Aviation’ on the topic ‘The essence, basic principles, and categories of professional ethics.’ The lesson was for second-year students majoring in 272 Aviation Transport, 141 Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electromechanics, and 172 Electronic Communications and Electrical Engineering.
Vira Siora began the lesson by announcing the topic and objective, using a puzzle to identify the key words of the practical lesson’s theme. Once interested, the students quickly focused on consolidating the educational material and actively engaged in the work with the slides of the presentation prepared by the teacher.
The students’ background knowledge was refreshed in the form of a dynamic and clear linguistic quest, which stimulated their mental activity.
The motivation for learning was stimulated at the beginning of the class with the help of brainstorming. Particular attention was paid to substantiating the basic principles and categories of professional ethics, consolidating theoretical knowledge on the topic, and drawing on external expertise and disseminating internal knowledge. A variety of teaching forms and methods were used in the classroom: verbal (mini-discussion ‘The Specific Nature of Morality’); visual (illustrations); interactive (‘puzzle,’ ‘search and research work using a QR code,’ the method of searching for missing words ‘Smart Encryptor’).
The lesson is methodically well-structured; all elements of the lesson have a logical sequence. The teacher skilfully manages the learning process, knows how to organise students for work, instilling the traits of independent decision-making and teamwork, and is proficient in the methodology of conducting practical classes.
