On the eve of the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression, a solemn flower-laying ceremony was held in our city at the memorial to those who died during the totalitarian regime. The students of Kremenchuk Flight College of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs also joined the commemorative ceremony.
Laying flowers is not only a symbolic sign of respect for those who suffered from the lawlessness and cruelty of the Soviet repressive machine. It is also a reminder of the importance of preserving historical memory, condemning any form of political persecution, and restricting human rights and freedoms.
Special attention was paid to the participation of young people in the event. This form of educational work contributes to the formation of a sense of respect for human dignity, justice and freedom in the younger generation. Involvement of students in studying the tragedies of the past encourages them to critically reflect on history and fosters responsibility for preserving democratic values in modern society.
Such events are important components of national and patriotic education. They contribute to the formation of historical consciousness, civic position and moral guidelines. By remembering the victims of political repression, we not only honour the past, but also build a future based on respect for human rights, the rule of law and humanism.
