On 13 May 2025, teacher Olha Khomiak in the form of an informational minute discussed the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Ignatov v. Ukraine with the group Pdsr-24-1b.
During the conversation, they considered the procedure for applying to the European Court of Human Rights. The ECHR considers complaints of human rights violations when national courts have failed to provide effective protection. In its judgment in SKOROKHOD AND OTHERS v. UKRAINE, the ECHR concluded that these applications demonstrated a violation of Articles 3 and 13 of the Convention due to inadequate conditions of detention and the absence of an effective remedy in national legislation.
During the information minute, it was noted that national legislation needs to be improved and adapted to the legislation of the European Union.
