On April 29, 2025, Dariia Riabtseva, the teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, conducted a demonstration lecture for the first-year students of Kremenchuk Flight College of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in the discipline ‘Foreign Language for Professional Purposes’ on the topic: ‘Behind the Black Box: Language and Lessons for Future Pilots’ (‘Aviation incident analysis as a tool for pilot training’).

In the process of studying the educational material, the teacher used modern teaching methods aimed at developing the professional competences of students. The lesson was based on a video fragment illustrating real events related to an aviation emergency on board an Airbus A330 aircraft.

The teacher started the lesson by announcing the topic and purpose of the class, activated the students' basic knowledge with the help of vocabulary exercises, tests and work in pairs. While watching the video, the students performed tasks to arrange the lines in the correct sequence, identify the speakers, and analyse the language structures used in the crew and air traffic controllers' phrases.

After watching the video, the students worked in groups to discuss the development of events, the causes of the accident and the chances of passengers' survival.

A wide variety of learning activities - individual, pair and group work - contributed to the effective learning of the material.

Marina Kiriukhina, Head of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, who was present at the lesson, noted that the teacher mastered modern teaching methods, effectively used authentic materials and created a favourable environment for the development of students' professional skills.
