On 21 March, Olha Khomiak, the teacher of the Department of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fundamental Disciplines, with the participation of Oksana Trisko, a leading psychologist of the Group of Psychological Support of the Human Resources Department of Kremenchuk Flight College of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, conducted a binary lesson in the discipline ‘Sociology’.
The binary class on the topic ‘Family and Youth Sociology. Challenges Faced by Modern Youth in Ukraine. Bullying’ was held for the first (bachelor's) level students of the field of knowledge 'Electronics, Automation and Electronic Communications'.
The objective of the lesson is to prevent cases of aggression, violence and bullying in the student environment, to form an idea of appropriate actions in case of bullying. Tasks: to provide information on the nature, signs, and participants of bullying; to create an understanding of the consequences of bullying, its harm and unacceptability; to develop skills of constructive response to bullying. During the session, the participants learned the roles of ‘bully’, ‘bullied’ and ‘observers’.
Bullying is moral or physical violence, aggression in any form to cause fear, anxiety and to subordinate a person to one's interests. The main reasons for bullying among adolescents are the desire to assert themselves by any means; the struggle for power and authority in certain microgroups; the desire to attract attention; imitation of negative forms of adult behaviour that adolescents see in their immediate environment, in the media or on social media. The main forms of bullying are verbal or physical (insults, hints, threats); any physical interference or other illegal actions; social (boycott, ignoring, isolation); cyberbullying - the use of modern computer technologies.
Bullying affects primarily those who are insecure, have low self-esteem and self-respect, are not ready to defend their rights, and lack love and understanding from their loved ones. For this category, the typical consequences of bowling are humiliating experiences - psychophysical traumas that heal very slowly. Humiliation harms a person, and the fear of new humiliation prevents them from living independently and using their potential rationally.
Conducting such binary classes with the involvement of practitioners is extremely useful for students, as it allows them to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
