Historical background: The National Guard of Ukraine was established in March 1991 after the proclamation of Ukraine's independence. The main purpose of this formation was to ensure the security and protection of citizens during the transitional period of the country's formation.
Subsequently, in the 2000s, the National Guard was reformed and integrated into the Armed Forces. However, with the start of the Russian aggression in 2014, it became clear that the country needed a powerful force to meet the challenges of danger. On 13 March 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law on the National Guard of Ukraine, which revived it in a new format.
On 26 March of that year, the Day of the National Guard of Ukraine was officially declared for the first time. This is a symbolic date that underlines the importance and role of the Guards in the fight for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.
On the occasion of the Day of the National Guard of Ukraine and with the aim of patriotic education of young people, encouraging a person to understand themselves as part of the great Ukrainian people, the college library reading room hosted a meeting of students with servicemen serving in the National Guard of Ukraine. The stories of the brave defenders of our country became a vivid example of the heroic defence of the Ukrainian land. The young people actively talked to the soldiers and received answers to their questions. The audience bowed their heads in memory and honour of all those who died.
The future pilots presented the heroes of our time with cups and pens with the logos of the Flight College.
