On 9 March 2025, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted the ‘Shevchenko’s Readings 2025’ competition to honour the memory of poet Taras Shevchenko.
Teams from the Educational and Research Institutes No. 1-5, Sumy Branch and Kremenchuk Flight College of KhNUIA took part in the competition in two nominations: ‘Recitation of Taras Shevchenko's work’ and ‘Original genre’.
The competition was judged by a competent jury consisting of: Oleksandr ANURIEV, Head of the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Military Administration of Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Mykhailo POSITKO, Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ihor BEZPALYI, Deputy Head of the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Department of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Fedir DANIV, Chairman of the Board of the Epicentre Football Club, Olena SASHURINA, Head of the Social and Humanitarian Work Department, Vitalii TARASENKO, Head of the Service Organisation Department, and Serhii SUBOTA, Head of the Food Supply Department of the Material Support Department. Serhii BORTNYK, Vice-Rector of the University, chaired the jury.
In the best recitation of Shevchenko's works nomination, Kremenchuk College of KhNUIA was represented by second-year student Bohdan Pushkariov with the poem ‘I grew up in a foreign land (І виріс я на чужині)’.
The chairman of the jury, Vice-Rector of the University Serhii BORTNIK showed his deep knowledge of the Great Kobzar's works. His impressive performance of ‘Both dead and alive...’ was an example for the competitors and all those present of his recitation skills and deep understanding of Ukrainian literature through the work of Taras Shevchenko.
In the ‘Original Genre’ nomination, the creative team of Kremenchuk Flight College of KhNUIA presented a song based on lines from the poem ‘Haydamaky’.
The jury selected the winners after evaluating the competitors' performances. In the ‘Recitation of works by T. Shevchenko’ nomination, the first place passed to the Institute No. 5, the second place to the Institute No. 3, and the third place to the Kremenchuk Flight College of KhNUIA.
In the ‘Original Genre’ nomination, the first place was awarded to the Institute No. 2, the second place to the creative team of the Kremenchuk Flight College, and the third place to the creative team of the Institute No. 5.
By the total number of points, the places were allocated as follows: I place - Institute No. 2 (148 points), II place - Institute No. 5 (147 points); III place - Kremenchuk Flight College of KhNUIA (144 points).
Diplomas were presented to the winners and prize-winners by the Vice-Rector of the University Serhii BORTNIK and the Head of Kamianets-Podilskyi District Military Administration of Khmelnytskyi Oblast Oleksandr ANURIEV.
