On 20 February, annually Ukraine celebrates the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Day in accordance with the President’s Order of 11 February 2025 ‘On Honouring the Feat of the Participants of the Revolution of Dignity and Perpetuating the Memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes’.

The Heavenly Hundred are 107 deceased participants of the Revolution of Dignity and Maidan activists, who died in the spring 2014 with the beginning of Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine. The name ‘Heavenly Hundred’ appeared by analogy with the main structural units of Maidan Self-Defence – the hundreds. It was first used during the farewell to the dead on Kyiv’s Independence Square on 21-22 February 2014.

It was on 20 February that the most people (48) died in the city centre of Kyiv. They, along with the other 54 killed and mortally wounded participants of peaceful demonstrations during the winter of 2013-2014 and five Maidan activists who died in the spring of 2014 for democratic values and the territorial integrity of Ukraine, were called the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

Under this year's slogan ‘HEROES OF THE FIRST VICTORY IN THE CONTINUING BATTLE’, the Department of Social, Humanitarian, Educational and Career Guidance Work held a patriotic event ‘The Heavenly Hundred Remembered Forever’ for students and cadets of Kremenchuk Flight College of Kharkiv National University in the library of the educational institution.

The students watched the film ‘The Heavenly Hundred Heroes Day’ and the documentary ‘Prayer for Ukraine’, as well as explored the book and illustration exhibition ‘Your Heroes, Ukraine!’.  The young people also participated in flash-mob ‘Tie a Ribbon’ and concluded the event by commemoration the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and laying the flowers at the memorial sign ‘To the Heavenly Hundred Heroes’.
