2-nd cultural and artistic ethnic action “Shine, God, from Paradise, at our Round Loaf” and the First Pokrovskyi Fair-exhibition of pottery of Opishnia potters took place in Opishnya, Poltava region. These events were dedicated tothe Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Defender’s Day of Ukraine.

Olena Shcherban, the curator of ethnic action and fair-exhibition, director of Ethnic Interpretive Centre of the ethnic manor-museum “Lialina Svitlytsia” ethnologist, doctor of historical sciences and Oksana Savchenko, the head of the cycle commission of philological disciplines, specialist of the highest qualification category, teacher-methodologist told the guests of the event about traditions and customs of the celebration of the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, recreated the wedding ceremony of Poltava region of the XIX - early XX centuries.
Hanna Khalimon, the cooks of round loaves, Tetiana Vintskovska from Kyiv region and Svitlana Prokhorchuk from Zhytomyr region conducted master classes on baking wedding loaves, cones, honey cakes, rye hobby horses of unleavened dough. The guests of the event got acquainted with the works of Opishnian potters, who presented their ceramics and held master classes on making household items and children’s clay toys.

The festive mood was created by the EthnoFolk Band “Krynychenka”, whose repertoire included Ukrainian folk songs of the wedding ceremony. The slogan of the event was: “Research, study, analyze, understand, promote Ukrainian ethnic culture!”.
